Description

Some journeys don’t begin with movement. They begin with light.
In this 11×14 original, a carved path descends through blooming color toward a shoreline where the sea receives the last fire of day. The sky doesn’t simply hold a sunset—it spirals with it. A radiant vortex of gold, amber, and white churns at the horizon like a living sun exhaling into the water. Thick impasto strokes build the atmosphere in sculpted ribbons, each palette-knife pass leaving behind motion you can almost feel beneath your fingertips.
A lone palm leans inward, wind-bent and watchful, its dark fronds reaching across the glowing sky as if blessing the moment. On either side of the path, lanterns burn steady and warm—small guardians against the vastness ahead. Their light is intimate, human. The sky’s light is infinite. Between them sits the viewer, poised at the edge of both.
The foreground blooms in dense tropical color—magenta, lime, emerald, and cobalt pressed heavily into the surface, unapologetically textured. The ocean below receives the sun in fractured reflections of gold and bronze, rippling with movement yet grounded in calm. Every stroke is deliberate. Nothing here is flat. The painting is built to be felt as much as seen.
This piece is about stepping forward even when the horizon feels overwhelming. About trusting the path that leads you through color, through memory, through light. The lanterns symbolize guidance. The spiral sun, transformation. The water, the quiet truth that everything in motion eventually finds its rhythm.
It speaks to the moment you choose to walk toward what calls you, even when you can’t yet see the end of the shore.
